Geronimo, (Jun. 16, 1829 - Feb. 17, 1909). Native American leader of the Chiricahua Apache who defended their tribal lands for 25 years fron the US government.

 

 

 

 

 

Pocahonta (c. 1595 - Mar. 21, 1617.) Noted for saving John Smith from execution by the Powhatans.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Calamity Jane, (May 1, 1856 - Aug. 1, 1903). A professional scout, frontierswoman and a close friend of Wild Bill Hickok.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wild Bill Hickok, (May 27, 1837 - Aug. 2, 1876). His skills as a gunfighter and scout gave him his fame.

 

 

 

 

 

 

James Dean, (Feb. 8, 1931 - Sept. 30, 1955). His iconic status is embodied by his film titled "Rebel Without a Cause."

 

 

Paul Bunyan is a mythical lumberjack of great strength that can be traced back to an article for the Detroit News in 1906.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Davy Crockett, (Aug. 17, 1786 - Mar. 6, 1836). Was a frontiersman, soldier and politician who died at the Battle of the Alamo at age 49.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Annie Oakley, (Aug. 13, 1860 - Nov. 3, 1926). An American sharpshooter who rose to fame in the Buffalo Bill's Wild West show.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Molly Pitcher (Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley) fough tin the Revolutionary War and brought water to the American soldiers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

John Luther "Casey" Jones, (Mar. 14, 1863 0 Apr. 30, 1900). Railroad engineer who died trying to stop his train when it collided with another.

 

 

 

 

 

 

"Buffalo Bill" Cody, (Feb. 26, 1846 - Jan. 10, 1917). Most famous for his wild west shows.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Billy the Kid, (Nov. 23, 1859 - Jul. 14, 1881). American frontiersman and outlaw. Legend has it he killed one man for each year of his life.
